Great and Precious Promises

God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should repent. Has He said, and will He not do? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?
Numbers 23:19

Great and Precious Promises
Paul reminds us that “all the promises of God in [Christ] are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God” (2 Cor. 1:20). This means that God fulfills His promises in the Person of His Son. As we read through the Bible, there is promise after promise—great and precious promises (2 Pet. 1:4)! Some of them pertain to the nation of Israel, His earthly people, but God’s Word is full of promises that apply to us. Someone has said there are 365 promises in the Bible, one for each day of the year, but I believe there are many more than 365. God gives these promises in order that you and I might take Him at His Word, trusting and depending on Him, not only in the mountain-top experiences of life, but even in the valley’s experiences. There is help for the hurting, hope for those who have lost hope, compassion and comfort for those in deep despair!

These promises are not simply for our heads; they are for our hearts! They are to strengthen the soul of those who might be cast down! These promises remind us that we have a loving Father who cares for us and holds us in His hands. He is able to strengthen those whose knees are feeble and whose hands are hanging down! When the struggles of this pathway seem to overwhelm you, turn to the Word of a loving, caring Father, who uses His Word to drive away fear and doubt. When speaking of the promises of God and the hope of eternal life, Paul said that God “cannot lie” (Tit. 1:2).

We must refocus our faith upon His promises and trust Him to fulfill them in His perfect time. Cast your care on Him, “for He cares for you” (1 Pet. 5:7). Take Him at His Word!

OF KEYS AND DOORS

Every apartment or compartment with a lock has its key. It takes a key to open the gate of a house and several keys to enter the house its rooms. If you have fridge, car or wardrobe, you will equally have their keys. From the foregoing therefore, it is apparent that several good things with value have their...More
