Two discouraged disciples were reasoning among themselves... Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory? And having begun from Moses and from all the prophets, He interpreted them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself. (Luke 24:26-27) Two discouraged disciples were reasoning among themselves as they trudged along the road from Jerusalem to Emmaus. The subject of their exchange was the recent death of Christ and as they talked, the Lord Jesus drew alongside, "incognito." How precious was the Lord's dealing with their sadness and with their unbelief. He does not reveal Himself to them until He has first opened and expounded the Scriptures to their hearts! As Jewish believers they had been influenced by a "one-sided theology." They were exclusively focused upon the coming kingdom and the deliverance of Israel from its enemies. This can be seen in their answer to the Lord, "We had hoped that He was the One is about to redeem Israel" (v.21; see . All of these and more would have been unfolded to them with divine power during the course of those seven miles. What rejoicing as they listened to Him expound the "things concerning Himself"! B. We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart. Open Heavens for Wednesday, June 18, 2014 by Pastor E.A Adeboye PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More |
