THE SACRIFICES IN THE BOOK OF NUMBERS (8) Whoever touches the body of anyone who has died, and does not purify himself That person shall be cut off from Israel. He shall be unclean, because the water of purification was not sprinkled on him. (Numbers 19:13 NKJV) THE SACRIFICES IN THE BOOK OF NUMBERS (8) The red heifer, with all its special qualifications, was truly unique: a beautiful type of our Lord Jesus. Yet the heifer had to be killed and totally burned, reduced to ashes: there was no other sacrifice like this! It was slaughtered and burned outside the camp, with all that was representative of the "first man." The sacrifice and burning of the red heifer provided ashes needed for preparing the water of purification, also called water of separation. Israel, traveling through the wilderness, was exposed to death, its power and influence. So are we believers in a world under the control of the devil, marked by death. However, Christ having taken part in flesh and blood-yet without sin-has obtained victory through death. He annulled the power of him who had the power of death . Yet, for the time being, we are still living in a world under Satan, the ruler of this world. As long as we have the sin nature in us, we will be vulnerable and easily affected by sin around us. When defiled, our need for cleansing reminds us of Christ's perfections and sacrifice. Under Moses, the work was not yet finished, but now under grace, we stand on Christ's finished work, resurrection, and exaltation. The Holy Spirit and the completed Word bring in the resources needed in case of failure and defilement. Praise God: Christ's work is completed and the Holy Spirit has come to dwell in us! Yet, how solemn: when someone rejects God's provisions. Then there is no other remedy left, neither under law nor under grace. A.E Bouter |

Open Heavens for Sunday, March 2, 2014 by Pastor E.A Adeboye NEGATIVE LIVING Life comprises of positive and negative elements. As a matter of necessity, it is not good for someone to opt for negative living. The fact that Jesus Christ was destined to die for the sin of the whole world does not exonerate Judas Iscariot from the evil that led him to the idea of betraying the King of Glory....More |
