THE NON-LYING GOD (2) In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word. (Titus 1:2-3) THE NON-LYING GOD (2) I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But God cannot deceive. I can falsify something. God cannot. I can exaggerate. God cannot. God is 100% truthful and dependable 100% of the time. Paul writes to Titus about "eternal life, which [the non-lying God], promised before the world began" we learn from the Lord Jesus this fact about the origins of lies, exaggerations and untruths: "You are of your father the devil, and you want to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. Whenever he speaks a lie, he speaks from his own nature, for he is a liar and the father of lies" (NASB). Lord, help me to tell the truth today. Help me not to mislead, lie, or exaggerate. I am so privileged that I have an eternal relationship with Thee, ho apseudes Theos. P. Ramsay |
