The Christian Under Human Government (2)

"Render therefore to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's" They marveled, and left Him and went their way.
Matthew 22:21-22

The Christian Under Human Government (2)
A scientist from a country with a very large population attended a conference in the West. He said something like this: "In the country I come from, one can oppose Darwin's evolutionism but cannot speak out against the government. In your country, however, one can freely speak against the government, but not against evolutionism." Defying Darwinism leads to negative publicity, even losing one's job or funding needed for a project.

After Noah's Flood, God instituted human government, with rules for humanity's well-being and for God's honor. This included the death penalty for murder—instituted to respect God and His creation . In today's verse, the Lord Jesus confirmed the God-given authority of government, while maintaining God's rights. As Christians, we cannot say that we have nothing to do with the government, even though it is true that we belong to another world. As long as we live in this world, we must honor the authorities placed over us. At the same time, we should never neglect God's rights. May the Lord help us to be faithful in both realms, for His honor!

BEFORE YOU GET ANGRY

Yesterday we learnt it is not right for us to get angry with God or to take offence against Him, even if we experience the deferment of our hopes. The example of John the Baptist who earlier acknowledged Jesus as the Messiah, but later doubted Him because of his painful experience of incarceration is a warning...More

Don't Lose Sight

...when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem...
Luke 2:45

We might as well face it, strife has even infiltrated our church life. It is true enough that the Church is now the Church militant. But, as such, its warfare ought to be that of dedication to revealed truth and divine...More
