The Blood of Christ (11)—Giving Access to the Holiest

Into the second part the high priest went alone once a year, not without blood Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all.
Hebrews 9:7, 12

The Blood of Christ (11)—Giving Access to the Holiest
The Book of Hebrews explains many of the types and shadows of the Old Testament and shows how Christ has fulfilled them. Often we find a great contrast between these Old Testament types and the spiritual reality we have now in Christ. This is seen in our verses above.

Aaron entered the second compartment of the tabernacle, the holiest of all, only once a year, on the Day of Atonement (Lev. 16). He could not appear there without the blood of bulls and goats, which were killed for that occasion. But He could not remain in that place. As we see in this chapter, the way into the holiest of all was not yet made manifest. The blood of animals could not secure Israel's high priest within the veil for the people.

What a contrast with Christ and His sacrifice! He has not entered into the heavenly sanctuary with the blood of animals (9:11, 24). But He has entered in virtue of His own blood that was shed at Calvary's cross. As we have seen, when the soldier pierced His side with the spear, out flowed the blood and water. This showed that sin's penalty had been met, and met by the holy, spotless Son of God Himself. What value there is in His precious blood! And now He remains there in the presence of God for us. His own blood—what an expression when we think of who He is!—has secured a place there for us, on our behalf, in God's presence, though of course He is personally worthy in Himself to be there. His blood has also opened the heavenly sanctuary for us.

The holiest we enter in perfect peace with God;
Through whom we found our center in Jesus and His blood.

UNCOVERING EVIL

The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits.
It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)
I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More
