Qualified for the Inheritance

Giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.
Colossians 1:12-13

Qualified for the Inheritance
In Paul's prayer for the Colossians, he desires that they give thanks to the Father, and he continues with a declaration of truth which is indeed cause for wholehearted thanksgiving. The Father has already "qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light." By virtue of redemption, He has given us title to the inheritance, but also, He has fitted us for the inheritance by imparting to us a new life that is fully agreeable with the holy character of the inheritance. This is in pure light, which makes everything manifest as it really is. It is a sphere where the believer is perfectly at home, but an intolerable place to an unbeliever because light exposes his guilt.

Added to this is another accomplished work of the Father: "He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love." The believer no longer walks in darkness; he walks in the light. It is another matter as to how much he allows the light to have a place in his heart and life, but he is fully delivered from the authority of darkness. Satanic power no longer has authority over him. Satan remains his cunning enemy, but not his master. His Master is the Son of the Father's love; he is in His kingdom. This is an aspect of the kingdom of God in which only true believers are included. From another viewpoint, the kingdom may include merely professing Christianity, but that is not indicated here.

The next verse continues with the accomplished blessing that all believers have "redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins" (v. 14). Nothing is held against us, for the blood of Christ has forgiven all.

However, there was only one person, spiritually speaking, who was a true Nazarite, and that was our Lord Jesus. He shows us that it is not a negative thing to be separated from the world but rather a...More

Adam found an excuse:

Jeremiah 17:9

In a discussion on the above text with some young people, the question was asked: how are we to understand the word "deceitful" here? After some consideration they reached this conclusion: deceitful means that the heart finds an excuse for everything. This seems a very apt...More
