The Blood of Christ (15)—His Blood Has Made Us Priests

To Him who loved us and washed us from our sins in His own blood, and has made us kings and priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever.
Revelation 1:5-6

The Blood of Christ (15)—His Blood Has Made Us Priests
How wonderful to consider the cleansing power of the blood of Christ! . This verse in 1 John shows the character of this blood. It is all-cleansing blood. How thankful we are that there is not a sin that the blood of Christ cannot cleanse. While His blood was shed once for all, and we are cleansed once for all, yet, we need often to be reminded of the value of His blood. If we sin, we are to confess it. But we are not cleansed by blood a second time, for that would mean we had to come to God again as sinners. But in our confession, as the Father's naughty children, we are to be reminded afresh of what it took to put those sins away.

Yet, how remarkable that we have not only been washed from our sins but are now made fit to be priests to His God and Father. This is true for all believers, young and old. As priests, we can worship and pray, we can offer "spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ" (1 Pet. 2:5). While in the public gatherings of His people, it is brothers who audibly lead the gathered saints (1 Cor. 14:34), let us always remember every believer present is a priest to God!

Notice in today's text, it is to Him who loved us. What motivated the blessed Son of God to come for such as ourselves to shed His precious blood? His great love which "surpasses knowledge" (Eph. 3:19)! May we enter into the spirit of this verse already, while still here: "To Him be glory and dominion forever and ever." He is worthy of our praise, and may we be those who render it to Him!

OF KEYS AND DOORS

Every apartment or compartment with a lock has its key. It takes a key to open the gate of a house and several keys to enter the house its rooms. If you have fridge, car or wardrobe, you will equally have their keys. From the foregoing therefore, it is apparent that several good things with value have their...More

APPLY THE KEY
