Secure in Christ

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.
Ephesians 1:3

Secure in Christ
We marvel as we read the story of Israel in the wilderness and God's declaration that "He has not observed iniquity in Jacob, nor has He seen wickedness in Israel" (Num. 23:21). How wonderful to realize that this is God's attitude towards us as well. But how can this be? It is because He sees us in His Son. We are one with the Lord, and so His perfection is attributed to us. This is something that should affect our hearts and our manner of behavior. We remember how Mephibosheth was invited to King David's table as one of his sons even though he was lame (2 Sam. 9). We remember that the prodigal son was richly received by the father even though he was not worthy to be considered a son.

We too, while we were enemies, were reconciled to God. While we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. We being poor, through His poverty have been made rich. We had all gone astray, but the chastisement of our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed. God made the Lord Jesus to be sin for us, that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him.

Realizing that we have been brought into this relationship with Him and that we are in this new condition, not by anything we have done but by the Lord's perfect work on the cross, all done by Him, this should give us confidence that we are safe in His hands. Nothing that He does is capable of failure, so we are secure and pure in His sight. May we enjoy this fact, worship Him, and live practically in the good of it. To be insecure in this complete and perfect work of God robs us of our peace, joy, and security, and brings dishonor to Him.

GOD PROMOTES

When God set out to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt, it was to take them out of captivity and bondage and to lift them up. God has come to take you out of your current location in the miry clay to your promised land - a land flowing with milk and honey. This simply tells us that the God of Abraham, Isaac...More

TRAIN UP YOUR CHILD 1

One major undoing of modern civilized society is an abounding generation of untrained children. This trend did not just start, but has been on for some time now. The result is that many untrained children of few years back have become parents themselves. It is the multiplier effect of their lack of proper home...More

A LIBERAL HEART?

Read:
, God asked the widow to feed the prophet before taking care of herself. At the end of the day, what was not enough became more than enough. To what extent do you practice giving as an individual, family, church or nation?

Those who never give will continue to beg, if you desire to...More

Hebrews 11:24-28

Author Zora Neale Hurston wrote a book titled Moses, Man of the Mountain. Published in 1939, it retells the story of Moses and the Exodus. Hurston altered details of the story for her own purposes, weaving in allusions to African American history, folklore, and song. She reflected...More
