Lessons on Uzziah (1)—God Made Him Prosper

[Uzziah] sought God in the days of Zechariah and as long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper.
2 Chronicles 26:5

Lessons on Uzziah (1)—God Made Him Prosper
Contrarily to his father, Uzziah prospered! And it is interesting to read this because when Uzziah started to reign, at 16 years old, it was when his father had been made captive by the king of Israel. This means that Uzziah was co-regent over the kingdom with his father Amaziah for 24 years! While Amaziah turned away from God and stubbornly kept that path, his son Uzziah sought the Lord with the same tenacity. And he prospered in everything: wherever he turned, and in whatever he did! We read that "his fame spread far and wide, for he was marvelously helped" (2 Chr. 26:15).

Was this prosperity only for saints and faithful kings of old? Is God still interested in the prosperity of His people today? It depends how you define prosperity. The Lord absolutely desires us to prosper greatly spiritually! This is why He has given us "every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ" (Eph. 1:3). We cannot acquire this prosperity by our own strength. These are spiritual blessings, and it is "not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit," "the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God" (Zech. 4:6; 1 Cor. 2:12).

Uzziah was blessed against his enemies, to defeat and dominate them, in his building projects, in the fields, in power, in wealth, and in fame. Do we want to have victories in the Lord's work against the spiritual powers that are blinding people to salvation and hindering spiritual progress? And what about bearing fruit in the Lord's work? And about having the Spirit of God work His power through us for every service, as we are weak? And about growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus that our progress be visible to all for His glory? Well then, let's start right now! Yes, let's seek the Lord in everything we do this very day! He will make us prosper and grow spiritually as we walk with Him.

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, ...

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
