In the Spirit on the Lord’s Day (2)

I was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day, and I heard behind me a loud voice, as of a trumpet, saying, "I am the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last," and, "What you see, write in a book and send it to the seven churches which are in Asia" I turned to see the voice that spoke with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the seven lampstands One like the Son of Man.
Revelation 1:10-13

In the Spirit on the Lord's Day (2)
Although banished to Patmos, an island some twenty miles from the coast of present-day Turkey, because of his faithfulness to the Lord, and apparently alone, the aged apostle John was in the Spirit on the Lord's Day. Nothing could keep him from occupation with his beloved Lord, the work of the Spirit of God within his heart. And although there were no two or three there for the Lord to be in the midst of, He did not leave His dear servant alone.

All at once the Lord was there with him—but oh, how different from when John and his fellow apostles had seen Him go up into heaven! A loud voice as of a trumpet! Once before, hanging on the cross at Calvary, this One who would "not cry out, nor raise His voice, nor cause His voice to be heard in the street" (Isa. 42:2) had cried out with a loud voice, "It is finished." Now John was told to write what he had seen in a book and send it to the seven assemblies in the Roman province of Asia.

Turning to see the voice, John saw "One like the Son of Man" in awe-inspiring judicial majesty in the midst of seven golden lampstands. John, who had leaned on Jesus' bosom and His breast (Jn. 13:23, 25), now "fell at His feet as dead." But the Lord tenderly laid His right hand on him, saying to him, "Do not be afraid; I am the First and the Last. I am He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death" (Rev. 1:17-18). What a great yet tender Lord He is!

Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And...

Jehovah appeared to him by the oaks of Mamre. And he sat at the tent-door in the heat of the day. And he lifted up his eyes and saw, and behold, three men standing near him.

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

REWARD FOR LABOUR

Jacob sojourned with Laban and laboured for him for several years. At first, his host was cheating him at every opportunity, and the years of his hard labour were almost in vain. Down the line, God had to intervene to enable Jacob eat the fruit of his labour. For a reader of this devotional, in every area that you...More

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"
