“Sowing” in the Marriage Relationship

Whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.
Galatians 6:7

"Sowing" in the Marriage Relationship
When he was inaugurated as president, John F. Kennedy said, "Ask not what your country can do for you—ask what you can do for your country." How different things would be in our home if we had a similar attitude, not seeking what we can get out of our marriage, but what we can give and do for our spouse, our marriage, and our family. As they consider marriage, many people think about what they will get out of this new and wonderful relationship that they are about to enter into. But how much richer, better, and fuller would the relationship be and become if the focus was not on what is in it for me but what I can do for the other.

The more sacrificial we are towards the other, the more forgiving we are, the more patient we are, the kinder we are, the more loving we are—and we could enumerate many more qualities—the more wonderful will be our relationship and the more honoring to the Lord will be our family and marriage. As we consider the preciousness of the gift the Lord has given us in our spouse, the more we demonstrate godly love toward each other and mutual submission and respect, the less our prayers will be hindered.

Are you considering marriage? Without this attitude you will not reap from that relationship what God desires for you. Equally for those of us who are currently in a marriage relationship, regardless of how many years we have been together, is this our attitude? Some time ago a Christian man married a woman who had a very serious physical handicap. He married her because it was his desire to serve his new wife until the Lord came or took either of them home. Our true example is the Lord, who gave Himself in death on the cross for His bride. May we serve one another in the same way.

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

ATTENTIVE TO THE MASTER'S INSTRUCTIONS?

It is always good to pay close attention to instructions given by someone you claim to be your guide or guardian. Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject. A multinational company once held a promotional exam for...More
