Worshiping God as Creator

Whenever the living creatures give glory and honor and thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne and worship Him who lives forever and ever, and cast their crowns before the throne, saying: "You are worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honor and power; for You created all things, and by Your will they exist and were created."
Revelation 4:9-11

Worshiping God as Creator
At the beginning of chapter 4, the apostle John, the writer of this book, in his vision hears a voice from heaven telling him to come up there and be shown things which must take place after this time period. He sees a majestic throne and One sitting on it. Around this throne are twenty-four elders, white-robed and crowned, sitting on thrones, and four living creatures. The elders depict the believers who have all been caught up into heaven before the coming judgments, while the living creatures represent God's attributes of providential power in administering judgment.

When the living creatures extol and thank God, the elders fall down and join in to express His worthiness as Creator and Sustainer of all things. In the next chapter the slain Lamb is seen in the midst of all this, and a new song of worship arises to Him for the wonderful redemption He has wrought.

When we meet together, we are rightly accustomed to thanking and praising the Lord for what He has done for us in giving His life for us. In fact, we come to remember Him. We appreciate His love and the greatness of His sacrifice. But do we also worship Him for the greatness of who He is as the Creator and Sustainer of the universe? We worship God as Father. Do we ever worship the Triune God as the One by whose will all things were created and exist, the One who planned every detail in infinitely marvelous perfection? We will do so in heaven. Why not do so here and now?

When You Have A Vision

I was not disobedient to the vision.' Acts 26:19 NIV

When God gives you a vision for your life, you need to know how to:

(1) Hold it. Your vision is governed by a time frame: If it seems slow in coming, wait patiently, for it will surely take place.' (Habakkuk 2:3 NLT) Some of us can...More

Thoughts on the Gospel of John (113)

He who loves his life will lose it, and he who hates his life in this world will keep it for eternal life. If anyone serves me, let him follow me; and where I am, there my servant will be also. If anyone serves me, him my Father will honour.
John 12:25.26.
