Obedience to Shiloh

The scepter shall not depart from Judah until Shiloh comes to Him shall be the obedience of the people.
Genesis 49:10

Obedience to Shiloh
Judah's name means "He shall be praised" (Gen. 49:8). His father pictured him as a young lion, the ultimate Ruler. God's Spirit led Jacob to describe the reign of the coming Messiah (Shiloh), the One to whom belongs the ruler's staff. However, this rule would depart from Judah, and the scepter be taken away! The scepter departed when the Roman occupation took away from the Jews the right of capital punishment, sometime before the Messiah was to be "cut off" (Dan. 9:26). The Jewish leaders confirmed to Pilate, the Roman governor, that they did not have the right to execute Jesus (Jn. 18:31).

Yet He was the Ruler to whom it belongs (Shiloh), as well as the Lamb of God who came to take away the sin of the world (Jn. 1:29). Even though all powers of the enemy were mobilized against Him, He prevailed. King Herod tried to kill the Baby Jesus (Mt. 2). Later, at the beginning of His public ministry, His own people tried to throw Him down from the hill (Lk. 4:29). Multiple times they sought to stone Him to death, but God did not allow it (Jn. 10:31). He must die in the right way and at the right moment, as God's Passover Lamb. Many Scriptures predicted details of His coming death, even long before He came into the world.

Jacob's prophecy foresaw that, ultimately, His people would obey. After the coming Great Tribulation and God's final judgments, God's chosen people will be ready to receive Him to whom the rule belongs. Then they will say, "Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord" (Mt. 23:36-39). May we submit to Christ's rule now in devoted obedience and worship to Him!

My times are in Your hand'Psalms 31:15 NKJV

The Psalm writes, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, "You are my God." My times are in your hand' (vv. 14-15 NKJV). As you walk with God you'll find that you spend more time waiting than you do receiving. And when you receive what you're waiting for, then...More

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
