A doctor reflects on his...

(Jesus Christ says:) Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
Matthew 11:28

A doctor reflects on his life:

“My mother prayed for me a lot and never gave up hope that I would turn to God. But from my very first year of college, my life took a sharp turn for the worse. My reckless lifestyle led me to sell some things that I didn’t absolutely need, including the Bible that my mother had given me when I left home.

Later, when I took a job as a doctor in a hospital, I saw all kinds of misery, and when I occasionally came into contact with committed Christians, it made me think again of my mother and of my youth.

One day, a seriously injured bricklayer was admitted. His condition was hopeless, and he knew he was going to die. However, his happy expression touched me in a strange way, especially since I could see that he was in unbearable pain.

The sick man had no relatives, and after he died his meagre possessions were examined in my presence. That’s when a Bible came to light. How shocked I was when I realised that it was the Bible my mother had given me when I was young! My name was still in it, along with a Bible passage written by her hand.

The last owner had obviously read a lot in this Bible as some passages had been highlighted. All this shook me to the core, for I suddenly saw my whole sinful life before me. I couldn’t rest until I had accepted Jesus Christ as my Saviour and Lord.”

Today’s reading: Isaiah 10:1-34 · Acts 24:1-9

FALSE PROPHETS AND THEIR PROPHECIES-FOOLISH PROPHETS

The word of Jehovah came unto me, saying: Son of man, prophesy against the prophets of Israel that prophesy, and say unto them that prophesy out of their own heart, Hear ye the word of Jehovah. Thus saith the Lord Jehovah: Woe unto the foolish prophets, that follow after their own spirit, and have seen nothing!...More

EVERYONE NEEDS A MIRACLE

Some years ago, I was invited to be the guest speaker at a garden party in an exclusive, highbrow residential area. Because I arrived at the venue quite early, I was made to sit for a while in the house of my host. The house was an exquisite parade of wealth and splendour. I had never seen such brazen display of...More

FOR CHRIST'S SAKE DON'T!

A negative change is generally abhorred by men. Everyone craves progress. We always desire to keep ascending the ladder of success. No one wants to make a u-turn in the journey of greatness. The greatest journey whose end has the greatest significance is the journey to Heaven. This journey is only made in Jesus...More
