Enter!

Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.
Matthew 7:13–14

Enter!
In today’s Bible passage, Jesus Christ calls people to make a decision: “Enter by the narrow gate.”

There are two gates – one narrow and one wide. They stand at the beginning of two paths – one narrow and one broad. These two paths lead to two different destinations – either to life or to destruction. The final destination of the paths makes it clear how important it is to choose the right gate at the beginning.

The narrow gate requires the person to give up and discard everything that makes it impossible to enter:

o Self-righteousness has no place on the path to life. Only when a person acknowledges God’s judgment on him and sees himself as a lost sinner is he ready to believe in the Saviour Jesus Christ and thus enter through the door of salvation (John 10:9).
o The striving to save oneself prevents man from humbling himself before God and entering through the narrow gate. As long as he seeks to gain God’s favour through a good lifestyle, He does not accept the saving grace found in the Saviour’s death.
o Independence is incompatible with following the Lord Jesus on the narrow way. Man is called to deny himself and hand over the leadership of his life to the Lord. Only in this way will he progress joyfully on the narrow way.

Today’s reading: Zechariah 5:1-11 · Mark 13:1-13

Two discouraged disciples were reasoning among themselves...

Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory? And having begun from Moses and from all the prophets, He interpreted them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.
(Luke 24:26-27)

SPIRITUAL WARFARE I

When we are told to put on the whole armour of God, one thing becomes clear instantly. This is the fact that there is a God. We cannot be talking of the armour of God if there is no God. Anyone who thinks that there is no God is a fool (Psalm 14:1). You have to pray that God would reveal Himself to you. The...More
