A meaningful sentence

He who believes in Me has everlasting life.
John 6:47

A meaningful sentence
With today’s verse, the Lord Jesus presents the gospel of grace in brief. Each word carries profound meaning:

o He who believes in Me has everlasting life. The Lord Jesus Christ addresses every person. No one is excluded from the offer of grace. Everyone can come to Him and believe in Him. The way to eternal life is open to all.

o He who believes in Me has everlasting life. Only through personal faith in the Lord Jesus can we be saved and receive eternal life. This faith excludes any attempts at self-redemption through good works or righteous living.

o He who believes in Me has everlasting life. We are called to believe in Christ, the Son of God. He became a man 2,000 years ago, led a perfect life, died as a Saviour on the cross, and rose on the third day.

o He who believes in Me has everlasting life. When we believe in the Lord Jesus, we are not promised something to receive someday. No! The Saviour assures us of eternal life as a present possession that can never be lost.

o He who believes in Me has everlasting life. This is not only a life of eternal duration but also of the highest quality. Through the eternal life we possess in the Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, we stand in a joyful and blessed relationship with God as our Father.

Today’s reading: Jeremiah 8:1-22 · Luke 21:12-28

LIFE IN ABUNDANCE 1

Under normal circumstances, no human being desires to be a nonentity. The various forces in the world however, are responsible for many people spending their entire life amounting to nothing and dwelling in the valley of not-well-to-do persons. The Almighty God Himself in making man did not intend for him to be a...More
