God judges us

He who believes in Him is not condemned.
John 3:18

God judges us
Ratings are “in”! We rate craftsmen and doctors, trips and books, toothbrushes and cars. We rate because we are angry or completely thrilled.

We rate whether the pizza tasted good or was delivered cold, whether we liked the book or it arrived late, whether our accommodation was excellent or the vacation was rainy. Sometimes we are in a good mood and give a lot of stars – sometimes we are critical and give only a few stars. And sometimes we copy those who have given ratings before we have.

But we are also rated – with testimonies, evaluations or likes, by teachers, bosses, neighbours or friends.

God also evaluates and judges: When He had prepared everything for mankind at the very beginning of human history, it says, “And indeed it was very good.” Then man sinned, and shortly afterward God saw “that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.” But over the Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the heavens opened, and God said of Him, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased” (Genesis 1:31; 6:5; Matthew 17:5).

One day, God will also evaluate me and my life. And only this evaluation matters! God will not weigh my good and evil deeds. No, He will measure me by how I treated His Son: whether I rejected Him and did not care about Him – or whether I listened to Him and accepted what He did for me on the cross of Calvary. God’s judgment will then only know two categories: lost or saved. Only if I have believed in the Lord Jesus will I not be judged.

Today’s reading: Jeremiah 29:15-32 · Romans 4:9-15

FASTING IS NECESSARY

To relate with the Holy Spirit, you must be holy. You must also exercise a living faith, pray and fast. Some people will tell you that because had finished the work of salvation, there is no need to fast. To them, fasting is completely needless and is some form of self-inflicted punishment. But they forget that...More

Down the line, God had to intervene to enable Jacob eat the fruit of his labour. For a reader of this devotional, in every area that you...More

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"

Bible in one year:
