Salvation or judgment

Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.
2 Corinthians 6:2

Salvation or judgment
The word “day” has two different meanings in the Bible. On the one hand, God speaks in His Word of a “day” consisting of 24 hours. On the other hand, many Bible passages use the term “day” to describe a longer period of time with specific characteristics.

In today’s Bible verse, we read about the “day of salvation”. This doesn’t refer to a 24-hour day but to an epoch spanning many centuries. It began with the death and resurrection of the Lord Jesus and continues to this day. During this time, God offers salvation to all people. Anyone who turns to Him and believes in the Lord Jesus Christ will be saved. This means that the believer will not face divine judgment and has no punishment to fear for his sins.

In Romans 2:5, God issues the following warning to people who refuse to repent and turn away: “But in accordance with your hardness and your impenitent heart you are treasuring up for yourself wrath in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God”. God speaks here of a day when He will judge. This day doesn’t last 24 hours but encompasses the future period of judgment, which will come soon.

Then God will condemn and punish all who are not reconciled with Him. That’s why it’s so important to seize the day of salvation now and be saved.

Today’s reading: 1 Chronicles 10:1-14 · Psalms 83:10-18

And she shall bring forth a Son, and thou shalt call His name Jesus: for He shall save His people from their...More

TOTAL COMPLIANCE REQUIRED

When we teach about tithes and first fruits, some people think that it is the pastor's way of making money but they are making a great mistake. When you put God first, He will make sure that your blessings are irreversible. But if you decide to give Him second place in your life, you may not be happy to see what...More
