The party was in full swing...

Rejoice because your names are written in heaven.
Luke 10:20.

The party was in full swing. The atmosphere was tremendous. The music of the band was deafening, and when the exuberance had reached its highest pitch, everyone sang: "And we'll all, every one get to heaven". Patrick was still singing it when he tottered towards his friend's car. Then the unexpected happened: the seriously drunken driver, driving the vehicle at a high speed, collided with a tree. The last thing Patrick remembered was the loud crash.

When he awoke, he was in hospital. Sparingly, they told him the truth: all the other passengers were dead, he alone had survived.

For a long time Patrick was not responsive. His thoughts took a fresh track. He couldn't get that hit song the band had played out of his head: "We'll all, every one get to heaven." Would they? For the first time he thought about that. Could he get to heaven as he was? His confrontation with death made the young man pensive. The question of what came after became all the more urgent for him.

"We'll all every one get to heaven" is a mean trick of Satan's. That hit song had been popular for decades. Many had sung it without thinking how wrong the words were. The Bible says unmistakably that not everyone will get to heaven. But it says equally clearly that one can know now whether one will ever be there, for we are responsible ourselves now here on earth for getting on the right track.

Be sure of your eventual, final destination! The Bible shows us the way.

Today's reading: Exodus 24:1-18 · Luke 9:28-36

What shall the baptized for the dead do if ...

What shall the baptized for the dead do if those that are baptized rise not at all? Why also are they baptized for them?
(1 Corinthians 15:29)

Who are "the dead," and who are those "baptized for the dead"? The next verse gives an important hint: "Why do we also endanger ourselves every...More

Be clear minded and self-controlled' 1 Peter 4:7 NIV
Going from childhood to adulthood is a transition that requires a lot of wisdom and love. Your teen will feel and behave child-like sometimes, and adult-like other times. Your job is to realize that whatever their status, they will become a man (woman)...More
