Eight negative statements

Whoever lives and believes in me shall never die.
John 11:26.

Eight negative statements
In John's gospel eight valuable promises are expressed in a strong negative form:

"Whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst" (ch. 4:14). With Jesus Christ our thirst for true fulfilment is quenched for ever.
"He who comes to me shall never hunger" (ch. 6:35). In the Lord Jesus we have someone who can fill our heart and life, so that we never again suffer from inner hunger.
"The one who comes to me I will by no means cast out" (ch. 6:39). We are welcome with Jesus Christ. He will never turn anyone away who turns to Him fully trusting Him.
"He who follows me shall not walk in darkness" (ch. 8:12). When we believe in Jesus and become His disciple, things become bright in our life.
"If anyone keeps my word, he shall never see death" (ch. 8:51). As believers we do not come into judgment. For us death is the doorway to eternal joy.
"He who hears my word and believes in Him who sent me shall not come into judgment, but has passed from death into life" (ch. 5:24). Trust in God the Father and His Word stresses the assurance of blessing for the present time and for eternity.
"I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish" (ch.10:28). As sheep in the Good Shepherd's flock we cannot be lost. We are His possession for ever.
"Whoever lives and believes in me shall never die" (ch.11:26). As the redeemed we have the sure hope that the Lord will take us to heaven alive.

Today's reading: Exodus 29:1-18 · Luke 12:1-12

Today God is calling you (3)

I have prayed for you, that your faith will not fail.' Luke 22:32 NASB

God wants you to do His will, but you'll never reach the place of spiritual maturity in which you're free of Satan. You can overcome him, but you can't eliminate him. Look at Peter. He had only one gear: overdrive. He was always...More
