Like a thunderclap

Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen! Remember how he spoke to you, ... saying: The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again.
Luke 24:5-7.

Like a thunderclap
Let us remind ourselves: it was almost 2,000 years ago. Several persons have reported what happened - the evangelists Matthew, Mark, Luke and John, of course contemporaries of that time, but also Josephus, Justin and Irene, and others after them. Around the year 30 A.D. the tomb of a crucified victim guarded by soldiers was found empty one Sunday morning. Every precaution had been taken to prevent anyone approaching, but without effect. The evidence had to be accepted: Jesus' body was no longer there! It would not be found with good reason: He was alive. Hundreds of believers saw Him again.

This inexplicable occurrence appears to have fallen into oblivion. Several Christian festivals are indeed celebrated, but how many people really believe the resurrection of Jesus? Nevertheless, the resurrection as the sign of divine action is essential for faith. Do we understand what it means? By raising Jesus, God showed His approval of His Person and His work. He assures everybody that Jesus' sacrifice on the cross completely satisfied His righteousness, and that since then whoever believes that Jesus died for his sins receives forgiveness with eternal life.

God has spoken - will He be heard? Let us believe God "who raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead, who was delivered up because of our offences, and was raised because of our justification" (Romans 4:24.25).

Today's reading: Jeremiah 20:1-18 · Luke 24:1-12

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, ...

Jesus says to her, Mary. She, turning around, says to Him in Hebrew, Rabboni, which means Teacher. Jesus says to her, Touch Me not, for I have not yet ascended to My Father; but go to My brethren and say to them, I ascend to My Father and your Father, and to My God and your God.

We have not a high priest not able to sympathize with our infirmities, but tempted in all things in like manner, sin apart.

PROVOKING POSITIVE CHANGE

Change is one event that is constant in life. Change denotes movement from one state to another. There are two categories of change: positive and negative. Due to the fact that change can either be positive or negative, Africans would say: "Change is good for the poor but bad for the rich". Change in life is...More
