When we suffer injustice in our life, we may well wish for some great "rectifier" to come and put right what has got out of hand. But we need someone who does not abuse his authority. It is to be feared that all who claim to act fairly, will fail in some way.

Our great God, however, has one such Person ready to act. All that has been predicted about Him and His coming reign is absolutely reliable, e.g. "He who rules over men must be just, ruling in the fear of God" (2 Samuel 23:3).

This Ruler, chosen by God, has the power to "subdue all things to himself". That means not only the laws of nature or environmental problems, but also all the violent and the seething sea of nations. He will act not for Himself, but for the good of creation and the honour of God - so much neglected nowadays!

Who is this unique Person? When people hear His name they are not only disappointed, "the nations rage and the rulers take counsel together against the LORD and against his anointed" (Psalm 2:1.2). The world will witness the coming of very different powers who will be accepted, although they turn out to be tyrants (cf. 2 Thessalonians 2:3.4; Revelation ch. 13).

The coming Prince of peace will appear on earth with great power and glory, judge the godless, establish justice and bring peace. Who is this Person? None other than Jesus Christ!
