The changing cubicles in clothes shops are...

If anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was.
James 1:23.24.

The changing cubicles in clothes shops are full of mirrors. We can see our reflection from all angles. We need to see what we look like in the new garment and are then expected to buy it, of course. But one can leave it and go away empty-handed. An adult woman, who considered herself beautiful but had never seen herself in a mirror, was so horrified at her true appearance when she was given one that she smashed it! She couldn't believe what she saw.

Mirrors accompany us in our life. But who ever thinks that the Bible is the perfect mirror for our inner man? When we read the Bible, we suddenly see ourselves, which is rarely the case with other books. The reflection is not always flattering, unfortunately, for God never flatters people like an author who has in view the number of copies sold. We discover our own errors and grave faults. We see ourselves as God does: no make-up, but bare and unmasked.

We first have to get over this sight, especially if we have had a false image of ourselves. Many people ignore it and simply go about their daily routine - to their detriment.

It is better to consider the truth of the "mirror", i.e. listen to the Word of God and act accordingly. Believe God's message of salvation! The gospel, the good news, is the power of God bringing salvation to everyone who believes it. Whoever puts his faith in Jesus Christ and His atoning work is pronounced righteous by God. Such righteousness can be acquired solely through faith.

Today's reading: Jeremiah 42:7-22 · Romans 10:14-21

THE HOLY SPIRIT

It is one thing to receive the anointing and another to keep growing on it. There are people who had the anointing, but today, everything has virtually ebbed out. It is possible to connect with the Holy Spirit and to continue to flow in the power of the anointing even at increasing levels. If this is your desire,...More

TOUCH NOT

In today's Bible reading, while David and his men were away, the Amalekites invaded Ziklag, defeated the city and set it on fire, after which they took members of their families - wives, sons and daughters as captives. When they returned and saw the situation of Ziklag, David and his men were really distressed,...More
