The number of people who hope...

Unless one is born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
John 3:3.

The number of people who hope that the world's problems can be solved sooner or later with the extensive knowledge of our "informed society" is by no means small. One expert from the media, however, regarded the matter very differently: "The serious problems like poverty, warfare and climate change do not exist simply because there are things we do not know. Information alone doesn't help much."

Indeed, the real value of information consists in its being not only accepted and understood by the receiver, but when the latter reacts correctly and consistently. This also applies to the message of our calendar.

The gospel, the good news of the grace of God in Jesus Christ, is primarily only a message. It has been propagated over the whole world for centuries, but that does not mean that the entire world has been christianised. God's message benefits only those who receive it by faith. This, too, is a biblical statement (cf. Hebrews 4:2).

Only those who have been "born again", i.e. have become totally new persons, have a part in the kingdom of God. This "info" of the Lord Jesus benefits people, only if they come to terms with it and accept it in their heart. Only then does God's Word prove to be a means of salvation.

God wishes to grant us new life, but we, for our part, must acknowledge that we have turned our back on our Creator and become guilty before Him. We must believe on Jesus Christ and His redeeming work on the cross.

Today's reading: Jeremiah 44:11-23 · Romans 11:22-36

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
