“I am the way”

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, This is the way, walk in it.

Jesus said..., I am the way the truth, and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me.

Isaiah 30:21; John 14:6.

"I am the way"
During the Second World War an American aircraft was shot down over Burma (Myanmar today). The pilot was not killed but succeeded in freeing himself from his plane. He found himself totally lost in the jungle. Eventually he came across a native who could speak some English and was prepared to bring him to safety.

The problem was: how to get out of dense forestland without any sign of a path. The Burmese man took his machete and cut a way free. The pilot followed him through a maze of unfamiliar bushes and trees. Here and there he caught sight of snakes and other wild animals. Terrified he asked his Burmese guide: "Where is the way here? Are you sure you know it?" The man from the jungle replied: "I am the way. Just keep close behind me, and we'll get out of this." And so it happened.

Alone in the difficulties of life, exposed to many dangers and entangled in sin - that is mankind's situation without God. Like that pilot, he is hopelessly lost. Who can show him the way that leads to God? Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." Whoever entrusts himself to Him He will lead to the Father.

Thou art the way, - to Thee alone
From sin and death we flee;
And he who would the Father seek
Must seek Him, Lord, by Thee.
Thou art the way, the truth, the life;
Grant us that way to know,
That truth to keep, that life to win
Whose joys eternal flow.

Today's reading: Leviticus 26:34-46 · Psalms 72:1-7

WORKING OUT AN ALTERNATIVE

In this uncommon race that we have enlisted in, if you rest prematurely, or take your eyes off the daystar we are following, you will be distracted. Another thing that can divert your attention is opening your mouth prematurely to reveal your secret to sympathetic friends'. Never share a testimony until it is...More
