October 9, 2015 Today's reading: Joel 3 Remember now thy Creator in the days of thy youth, while the evil days come not, nor the years draw nigh, when thou shalt say, I have no pleasure in them; Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel: Ecclesiastes 12:1; 2 Timothy 2:8 A visitor to a home for the elderly met a group in the day-room. Most of them were unable to join in a conversation, some being completely dependent on the assistance of the nursing staff who push them around in their wheelchairs. The visitor would have liked to express a friendly, encouraging word to them, but it was difficult to make contact. While we are in full possession of our health and mental faculties, we should be grateful to God for preserving them. But we should also be aware of the use we make of them. Do we live solely for ourselves and think of nothing other than our material needs and pleasures? Or do we recall that the Bible tells us: "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4). During the course of our life, we must take in the food for our soul that can be found in the Word of God. Whoever reads this Word will discover the important message of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. He became Man to save us from evil. He bore the guilt of sin on the cross for all who entrust themselves to Him by faith. And God accepted this perfect sacrifice, raised Him from the dead and glorified Him in heaven. God is therefore absolutely just when He pronounces those righteous who have faith in Jesus (cf. ). Let us not wait until we reach old age to come to the Saviour Jesus Christ, should we ever attain it! |

But they forget that...More |

It is always good to pay close attention to instructions given by someone you claim to be your guide or guardian. Often, we miss many opportunities, breakthroughs and victories because we fail to see the details of the instructions given to us on a subject. A multinational company once held a promotional exam for...More |
