Simon Peter – a man of little faith

When he (Peter) saw that the wind was boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried out, saying, Lord, save me! And immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him, and said to him, O you of little faith, why did you doubt?
Matthew 14:30.31.

Simon Peter - a man of little faith
The disciples were crossing the Lake of Genessaret. They were rowing hard, but making little progress, for the wind was against them. Then Jesus came to them in the early hours of the morning, walking over the water. The disciples, wet, exhausted and overtired, first thought it was a ghost. They screamed in fear, but Jesus calmed them: "Be of good cheer, it is I; do not be afraid" (v. 27).

When Peter heard that it was Jesus, he wanted to be near Him at once: "Lord, if it is you, command me to come to you on the water" (v.28). Jesus said, "Come!" And Peter climbed out of the boat and walked on the water to get to Jesus.

Only then did he notice that the wind was more threatening and stronger than before, when he was in the boat. Then the thought that he was walking on water that has no solid foundation caused him to panic. He realised that he could not withstand the power of nature, started sinking and cried out, "Lord, save me!" Jesus was there immediately, grasped him by the hand and said, "O you of little faith, why did you doubt?"

When Peter saw the wind and the waves, he lost his eye contact with his Lord. Indeed, anyone who walks with Jesus but becomes occupied with his own living conditions, losing sight of Jesus, will begin to totter. It is no different today. But whoever calls on the Name of the Lord by faith will be saved - saved for eternity and in life's troublesome situations. This still applies today.

On the Day of Judgment, many whose names were in earth's halls of fame will be shown the way to the eternal lake of fire...More

BE STRONG

You don't charge someone to be strong if there is no task to be performed or if pressure is not required, either for motion or putting up resistance against an opposing force. In the physical realm, mere movement requires strength. This explains why a sick person or a person just recovering from an ailment finds it...More

God often proves to be other than people think...

Acts 5:4-5

God often proves to be other than people think. Here, for example, death struck a man suddenly for lying before God. Is God therefore severe, when he makes use of His power unreservedly towards the weak?
Let us first briefly examine what preceded this judgment. Holy zeal for the...More
