Today's reading: Numbers 4:21-41

And they began to pray him to depart out of their coasts.
Mark 5:17

Getting rid of a difficult person is sometimes a real problem. One can give all kinds of hints, but if they are not taken, the only resource is an unmistakable, "Please leave me alone!" In the case above, however, it was no nuisance who was asked to leave, but the greatest benefactor who ever lived on earth, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Clearly He had not intended leaving the region of the Gadarenes so promptly, for He had just arrived there. The cause was: His first encounter - with a poor man plagued by demons. The Lord had driven out the evil spirits who had made the district unsafe by means of this man whom they had tormented incessantly. They had entered a herd of swine, which, driven by these powers of darkness, had rushed into the sea and drowned.
This dangerous, sick man was known throughout the entire region: he dwelt among the tombs, went about naked and mutilated his whole body with stones. Now the citizens came to Jesus and saw the man they feared so much sitting there sensibly and clothed. Wasn't that a reason to rejoice? Weren't they relieved that their terror had been allayed?
They reacted otherwise! They began to be afraid. Why? Their conscience had been pricked. They, too, were guilty before God, but they had no wish to change their way of living. So they could not bear the presence of the Lord and asked Him to depart at once. They consciously and purposely rejected the offer of life with Christ and eternity in His presence.

UNCOVERING EVIL

The presence of the supernatural power of God in a church can take that church beyond limits.
It can also uproot the presence of evil in the midst of Gods children. In Acts 5, a couple were uprooted through this. If we are going to sanitise the church, we need the Holy Spirit. Just as we need Him to heal, save...More

And the angel of the LORD appeared unto the woman, and said unto her, Behold now, thou art barren, and bearest not: but thou shalt conceive, and bear a son. Now therefore beware, I pray thee, and drink not wine nor strong drink, and eat not any unclean thing: For, lo, thou shalt conceive, and bear a son; ...More

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)

In the hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before the ages of time, but has manifested in its own due season His word.
(Titus 1:2-3)

THE NON-LYING GOD (2)
I can lie. Titus could too, and so could the Cretans. But God can not lie. I can deceive. But...More
