Jesus Christ was standing before the...

If I tell the truth, why do you not believe me?

Christ Jesus witnessed the good confession before Pontius Pilate.

John 8:46; 1 Timothy 6:13.

Jesus Christ was standing before the supreme authority in the state and there confessed freely His true identity and His mission. He told nothing but the truth, although it meant the death sentence for Him.

Let us compare that with just one example of many sad discoveries in recent years. A well-known politician finally admitted to being involved in dubious activities for a foreign secret service after constant denials. The shock and disappointment among his party friends hit him hard. None of the unfortunate man's acquaintances appeared at the press conference to support him.

The man had not had the courage to refuse or break off those illegal relations. Nor did he have the strength to own up and face the consequences. He wouldn't even come clean with his family. Then he was suddenly faced with an uncertain fate.

Why do we mention such an appalling case? Because everyone needs to put an end to his old life - life lived apart from God in self-will - and confess his sins to God. Whoever continues trying to hide things from our omniscient God must take the consequences in all eternity.

Jesus Christ, the Son of God, deserves our trust. He never lied. All His sayings were reliable, including His offer to save everyone who comes to Him from eternal perdition. Why not take advantage of it, whatever your own situation may be like?

Today's reading: 1 Chronicles 9:1-44 · Psalms 83:1-9

Two discouraged disciples were reasoning among themselves...

Ought not the Christ to have suffered these things and to enter into His glory? And having begun from Moses and from all the prophets, He interpreted them in all the Scriptures the things concerning Himself.

SPIRITUAL WARFARE I

When we are told to put on the whole armour of God, one thing becomes clear instantly. This is the fact that there is a God. We cannot be talking of the armour of God if there is no God. Anyone who thinks that there is no God is a fool (Psalm 14:1). You have to pray that God would reveal Himself to you. The...More
