Fabian was contemplating the photo on the...

Lift up your eyes on high and see who has created these things.

God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, has in these last days spoken to us by his Son.

Isaiah 40:26; Hebrews 1:1.2.

Fabian was contemplating the photo on the cover of a school book that showed Rodin's famous bronze sculpture, "The Thinker", a muscular man sitting on a stone is supporting his head on his hand and looking at the ground.

I asked Fabian, "What do you think of that sculpture?" - "It's very impressive," he answered, "It looks as if he is worried." - "Exactly! One wants to tell him: ‘Stand up! Don't seek the solution in yourself or on the ground. Raise your head and look up!'"

Using their knowledge and experience as the basis, great thinkers have recorded their concepts of God and the world, and nowadays God is being overlooked more and more. They have tried to come to a final, satisfying conclusion but failed to do so.

Why? "It is He (God) who has made us, and not we ourselves" (Psalm 100:3). To attain the truth that is sought we have to see things from God's perspective. If we leave Him out, we shall only grope helplessly in all questions concerning the origin of life and our existence.

Now God has come to us in the Person of His own Son. Jesus Christ showed who God is, and what man is. Through Christ God offers us life in abundance, eternal life. Therefore He calls on us to look up, to look up to Jesus, the Saviour and Lord (cf. John 3:16, Hebrews 12:2).

Today's reading: 2 Chronicles 7:1-10 · 2 Timothy 3:10-17

WORKING OUT AN ALTERNATIVE

In this uncommon race that we have enlisted in, if you rest prematurely, or take your eyes off the daystar we are following, you will be distracted. Another thing that can divert your attention is opening your mouth prematurely to reveal your secret to sympathetic friends'. Never share a testimony until it is...More
