Today's reading: Numbers 7:24-47

And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely;
This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me.

Revelation 22:17; Psalm 119:50

The Bible of the two brothers (1)
Around 1940, a Christian missionary passing through the small village of Shimmabuko on the Japanese island of Okinawa had given a Bible to Shosei and his brother Majan. They started reading it at once.
"Look!" Shosei said to his brother one morning, "This is a book of surprises. It says here that we should love and serve one another." At that moment, a cripple happened to be passing. "Let's invite him in," they suggested. "It will be a way of helping others, as the Book teaches." The lame man was very surprised to be invited and asked the reason why. It's because of this Book," Shosei explained. "It is written here that there is a God of love who is like a father to us. He wants us to do good. He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to save us from our sins. Would you like to know more about this matter?"
From that day on the cripple and others, too, came to sit near the entrance of the hut where Shosei and his brother lived. There they listened to readings from the Bible. More and more people understood the message, and there were quite a number who decided to follow Jesus. Since the old habits have given way to a way of living that corresponds to the gospel, a great change has come over the village. There are no more arguments, and those in need were helped by the others. Joyful laughter resounded through the streets.
Have you read the Bible? Has it changed your life? Have you entered into a relationship with the blessed God?
(to be concluded tomorrow)
