Today's reading: Numbers 10:18-36

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation;
2 Corinthians 5:17-18

"In Christ". How significant this short expression is! It reveals concisely the believer's wonderful position before God. God regards all who have taken refuge in the Lord Jesus Christ with their sins, putting their faith in Him as "in Christ". He sees them in His estimation of the preciousness of Christ.
The position into which believers have been brought through the grace of God on the ground of Jesus Christ's work of redemption is indeed wonderful and perfect. When God looks upon one of His children, He sees Christ, as it were: we are wholly in Him.
Nothing can be added to the perfection of this position of the believer; nor is there any distinction in it among believers: all are "complete in him" . This is exceedingly great. How it should spur us on to see that our walk in this world corresponds to this position in practice! In this way, we shall glorify our beloved Lord.
Knowing this glorious position gives the faithful Christian great joy and spiritual profit. He is given strength to serve the Lord devotedly. If our faithfulness diminishes, our hearts will grow cold; then it can easily happen that we "boast in appearance and not in heart" (v.12) regarding our position. The grace that brought this privilege about is disregarded and we lose much blessing as a result. For this reason, the reminder that "all things are of God" in our text for today is so important.

It is possible to connect with the Holy Spirit and to continue to flow in the power of the anointing even at increasing levels. If this is your desire,...More

TOUCH NOT

In today's Bible reading, while David and his men were away, the Amalekites invaded Ziklag, defeated the city and set it on fire, after which they took members of their families - wives, sons and daughters as captives. When they returned and saw the situation of Ziklag, David and his men were really distressed,...More
