Our omnipotent God

I will praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marvellous are your works, and that my soul knows very well.
Psalm 139:14.

Our omnipotent God
God's greatness and power can easily be seen in creation. "By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God" (Hebrews 11:3). The more we occupy ourselves with the details of nature, the more we wonder at the precision with which everything goes together.

In this psalm David admires the process of the formation of the human body. From its growth in the mother's womb to the full-grown adult everything is coordinated. Generally we do not notice how complex our body has been formed until one of its functions fails. A single defect can restrict someone considerably. Therefore David praised the Creator and His power and wisdom. We should do so, too, when we contemplate God's great creation.

We should also be conscious of this: if God created and preserves the universe in its vast extent and a cell in our body with its minute details, He can also turn the difficulties in our life for our good at any time: "Behold, I am the LORD, the God of all flesh. Is there anything too hard for me?" (Jeremiah 33:27).

How easily we estimate the chance of a solution to our worries according to human ability and ask: "Can I change things myself? Can a doctor help me?" Then we often resign. It is good if we admit our helplessness. What a blessing it is that we can entrust everything to our Creator and His omnipotence!

Today's reading: 2 Chronicles 30:15-27 · Revelation 17:1-6

IS YOUR VISA READY?

Speaking of aspirations and ambitions in life, if all you can achieve on earth is for your name to enter and remain in the most important book in the universe - the Book of Life, it is worth it. On the Day of Judgment, many whose names were in earth's halls of fame will be shown the way to the eternal lake of fire...More

BE STRONG

You don't charge someone to be strong if there is no task to be performed or if pressure is not required, either for motion or putting up resistance against an opposing force. In the physical realm, mere movement requires strength. This explains why a sick person or a person just recovering from an ailment finds it...More

Acts 5:4-5

God often proves to be other than people think. Here, for example, death struck a man suddenly for lying before God. Is God therefore severe, when he makes use of His power unreservedly towards the weak?
Let us first briefly examine what preceded this judgment. Holy zeal for the...More
