A young man to whom I want to...

The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; the judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether.

But He said, More than that, blessed are those who hear the word of God and keep it!

Psalm 19:9; Luke 11:28

A young man to whom I want to give a Christian flyer refuses, saying, "I'm not religious at all!" "But why don't you want to familiarise yourself with an important subject for once?" I counter.

"I'm not a Bible person," the other continues. "Do you already know it, then?" I enquire. "Not really," he replies. But then he becomes more serious: "The only thing I want to know is what is in the hereafter." "Very well, that's just what the Bible is for," I tell him.

The fact that the Bible does not meet with everyone's interest does not change the fact that it is of the greatest importance for us as a communication from God. Who else but God Himself could answer the fundamental questions of our lives: who we really are, what life after death is all about, who He is, how He sees us, and whether there is a heaven and a hell? On all these subjects we have revelations from God written down in the Bible. It is worthwhile to look into them.

The Gospel of Luke tells of a rich man who died without being reconciled to God. He took his life's guilt to the grave without forgiveness. And so when he awoke in the realm of the dead, he suddenly found himself in indescribable torment in a place far from God. We can be spared such a fate if we take the Bible in hand in time and let it work on us. Of course, it is important that we read it without reservations. If we trust God's Word, we will soon find the way to eternal glory.

Today's reading: Numbers 22:22-41 · Matthew 13:31-35

My times are in Your hand'Psalms 31:15 NKJV

The Psalm writes, I trust in You, O Lord; I say, "You are my God." My times are in your hand' (vv. 14-15 NKJV). As you walk with God you'll find that you spend more time waiting than you do receiving. And when you receive what you're waiting for, then...More

A Statement Of Purpose To Live By

Always give yourselves fully.' 1 Corinthians 15:58 NIV

Next time you pass a McDonald's, think about this statement from the one of the founders: Ray Kroc. Press on! Nothing in the world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent....More
