Contaminated sites

Come now, and let us reason together, says the Lord, though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow.
Isaiah 1:18

Contaminated sites
At disused factories or in old landfills, there may be contaminated sites that pollute the soil. Whether they lie on the surface or are filled in, whether they have already caused damage or not, these contaminated sites pose considerable risks to groundwater and human health. That is why most countries take this problem seriously and conduct thorough remediation of all contaminated sites.

Contaminated sites – do they also exist in our lives? Maybe burdens from sins that we have not yet cleaned up? Perhaps they are not on the surface and therefore no one knows about them. It may also be that certain sins have not yet caused any further consequential damage in our lives. Possibly the guilt is not pressing on us so much at the moment. Nevertheless, we should take these “old burdens” seriously before it’s too late. In any case, sins have serious consequences. They have separated us from God. And soon they will entail eternal punishment.

But God offers us the “rehabilitation” of our lives. If we open our hearts to His love and admit all our guilt before Him, we will escape the terrible consequences. God then cleanses our hearts and lives of sin because Jesus Christ suffered the penalty for it through His death.

This is the beginning of a new, joyful life with God.

Today’s reading: Deuteronomy 28:33-69 · Galatians 5:1-10

(1 Corinthians 15:29)

Who are "the dead," and who are those "baptized for the dead"? The next verse gives an important hint: "Why do we also endanger ourselves every...More
