Continuing with the Lord Jesus!

[Barnabas] encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord.
Acts 11:23

Continuing with the Lord Jesus!
The exhortation in the verse of the day consists of four parts:

Continuing with the Lord concerns our heart. The Lord does not expect our time, our strength, our money or our service first. He wants our affection. The central motive for everything we do in our lives should be love for the Lord Jesus. Because He died for us, our heart belongs to Him.
Continuing with the Lord requires a decision. Every day we make decisions – important and not so important ones. But what about the decision to live for and with the Lord Jesus? If we have accepted Him as our personal Saviour, the normal consequence is that we now place our lives at His disposal.
Continuing with the Lord is to acknowledge His claims. How happy we are to know Jesus Christ as our Saviour and to possess forgiveness of sins. However, living in a relationship with Him requires that we respect and honour Him as our Lord. Abiding with Him means asking according to His will and obeying His Word.
Continuing with the Lord is a permanent thing. He wants us to constantly stay close to Him and ask ourselves daily what He wants from us. It is not just about making a good start on the journey of faith, but to continually follow the Lord – even when problems arise and our faith is tested.

Today’s reading: Deuteronomy 29:1-17 · Galatians 5:11-15

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.
(Galatians 6:1-2)
