Counting on God

But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.
Matthew 6:33

Counting on God
I am sitting in the office of a Salvation Army officer. With various examples, the man describes how his operation works. He talks about the people who work there. Many come from difficult backgrounds. They first have to learn to have a regular job. Some come from the penal system. There are also people who have had to flee their country of origin. For these asylum seekers, it is a matter of learning a foreign language and getting used to a completely new culture.

Running such an institution presents the manager with many challenges. Listening to him, I realise that this man is equipped with many skills that benefit him in his task. But when he talks about the positive experiences he always has with people, he emphasises: “We count on God here. That’s why working with this motley group of people is possible at all.”

This remark pleases me very much. You can feel that he is serious. Every day he trusts in God. Many times he has experienced very concretely the way God has helped him.

If we believe in the Lord Jesus, we too can count on God every day. He is almighty; He is always there, wherever we are. If we put our trust in Him, He will never let us down.

Today’s reading: Deuteronomy 30:1-14 · Galatians 6:1-10

As high as God is and even though He has His throne in Heaven, yet He condescends to meet the needs of His children on earth (Isaiah...More

DIVINE CHAMPION 2

One attribute of a champion is strength. The divine champion is one who receives divine strengthening....More

EX-CHAMPION?

Although it is an unpleasant experience to be a defeated contender, becoming an ex-champion is a much more grievous experience. When you are not yet a champion, only a few people pay attention to you. But by the time you become a champion, you will be on the radar of many people, including your enemies. A champion has...More
