Martin is proud of his daughter Sarah...

Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift!
2 Corinthians 9:15

Martin is proud of his daughter Sarah – specially now, when she is beaming all over because she has received a small gift from the man at the book table.

“What do you say, Sarah?” Martin asks her.

“Oh, she already said thank you,” the man assures, turning to her once more. “God bless you, little Sarah!”

Then he turns to Martin, “Your daughter has already learned her lesson beautifully.”

Martin doesn’t understand him, “What lesson?”

“Well, she says thank you for what she has received. Do you also give thanks for everything you get as a gift?”

“I think so,” Martin replies.

“Well,” the man continues, “God has given us His Son, Jesus Christ. Whoever believes in Him will not be judged and has eternal life. Have you thanked God yet for this gift, this gift of His Son?” Martin shakes his head.

The man looks at him kindly, “Isn’t that rude of you. Aren’t you ungrateful? If a friend invited you, surely you would thank him for the invitation, even if you could not accept it? Then why don’t you also tell God today that you sincerely thank Him for His gift – and that up to now you have had no use for His Son in your life? Jesus Himself said: ‘He who believes in Me (that is, not he who feels or thinks it) has eternal life, but he who does not believe Me (does not recognise My authority, does not obey Me, and rejects My offer) will not see life’ (John 3:36). May I ask you: Do you want to continue to be ungrateful and reject Him? Or do you want to believe in Jesus Christ and thank God for His inconceivably great gift?”

Today’s reading: 1 Samuel 7:2-17 · Psalms 90:1-9

GOD PROMOTES

When God set out to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt, it was to take them out of captivity and bondage and to lift them up. God has come to take you out of your current location in the miry clay to your promised land - a land flowing with milk and honey. This simply tells us that the God of Abraham, Isaac...More

TRAIN UP YOUR CHILD 1

One major undoing of modern civilized society is an abounding generation of untrained children. This trend did not just start, but has been on for some time now. The result is that many untrained children of few years back have become parents themselves. It is the multiplier effect of their lack of proper home...More

A LIBERAL HEART?

, God asked the widow to feed the prophet before taking care of herself. At the end of the day, what was not enough became more than enough. To what extent do you practice giving as an individual, family, church or nation?

Those who never give will continue to beg, if you desire to...More

Hebrews 11:24-28

Author Zora Neale Hurston wrote a book titled Moses, Man of the Mountain. Published in 1939, it retells the story of Moses and the Exodus. Hurston altered details of the story for her own purposes, weaving in allusions to African American history, folklore, and song. She reflected...More
