Today's reading: Numbers 20:14-29

And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
Luke 7:48-50

The woman Jesus addressed here was known everywhere for her sinful life. But she had heard that Jesus had entered the town as a guest in the house of Simon the Pharisee. The guilt of her life weighed heavily on her conscience, and her heart was sad. She truly needed the Redeemer, and now He was in her town.
Would Jesus grant such an infamous woman like her forgiveness and salvation? Would He take any notice of her at all? We can well imagine that these very questions were going through her mind. She knew how the Pharisees looked down on her. But her deep need and longing for peace and comfort enabled her to overcome all her inhibitions.
When the woman entered Simon's house, she sensed his contempt. But she took no notice of him. She stood weeping behind Jesus, who was lying on a cushion at the table. She could not utter a word, but her tears of sincere repentance fell on the Lord's feet, which she wiped dry with her hair and anointed with expensive oil.
How did the Son of God react? He knew all about that woman's life. But no look of dismay met her, and He spoke not a word to dismiss her. Jesus did not come into the world to judge people, but to save them. So, full of mercy, He said to her, "Your faith has saved you."
Simon, the proud Pharisee, objected. But nothing, no commandment, no ceremony, no person, was to come between the sinner the divine Redeemer. All who come to Christ with their guilt receive full forgiveness.

CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU?

Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More

DON'T KILL YOURSELF FOR NOTHING

I do hope you are realizing that after all there is no point envying the prosperous wicked. Do not kill yourself for nothing. You have your life to live. Do not be a puppet dancing the...More

Hudson Taylor...

John 19:30

The parents of Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), the well-known missionary in China, were believers. From their example, he noticed early in life how helpful prayer and the Bible are.
His parents' exemplary life impressed him, and he endeavoured to be as good a Christian as they were....More
