Look to the Lord Jesus!

These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.
John 16:33

Look to the Lord Jesus!
When we look at the waves of time and circumstance, it is easy for fear and worry to creep into our hearts. But this need not be so. The Lord Jesus encourages us to look to Him in the midst of affliction and find peace with Him.

Perhaps we are afraid of what is coming. We fear for our jobs because the economic situation has worsened. Or we are afraid of an operation and ask ourselves: What will happen? The Lord knows about our fear and encourages us: “Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God” (Isaiah 41:10). In the difficulties we experience, He never leaves us alone for even a second. He assures us, “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).

We may lie awake at night, tossing and turning on account of our worries. We can’t find rest because the problems of everyday life are weighing heavily on us. We don’t know how to fulfil our tasks of the next day. Our Lord knows the worries that rob us of sleep. He calls out to us: “They shall not be ashamed who wait for Me” (Isaiah 49:23). Looking to the future, He urges us: “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things” (Matthew 6:34).

Today’s reading: 1 Samuel 24:1-23 · Philippians 2:19-30

GOD PROMOTES

When God set out to deliver the children of Israel from Egypt, it was to take them out of captivity and bondage and to lift them up. God has come to take you out of your current location in the miry clay to your promised land - a land flowing with milk and honey. This simply tells us that the God of Abraham, Isaac...More

TRAIN UP YOUR CHILD 1

One major undoing of modern civilized society is an abounding generation of untrained children. This trend did not just start, but has been on for some time now. The result is that many untrained children of few years back have become parents themselves. It is the multiplier effect of their lack of proper home...More

A LIBERAL HEART?

Read:
, God asked the widow to feed the prophet before taking care of herself. At the end of the day, what was not enough became more than enough. To what extent do you practice giving as an individual, family, church or nation?

Those who never give will continue to beg, if you desire to...More

Hebrews 11:24-28

Author Zora Neale Hurston wrote a book titled Moses, Man of the Mountain. Published in 1939, it retells the story of Moses and the Exodus. Hurston altered details of the story for her own purposes, weaving in allusions to African American history, folklore, and song. She reflected...More
