Andrew brings others to Jesus

Now there were certain Greeks among those who came up to worship at the feast. Then they came to Philip, who was from Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, “Sir, we wish to see Jesus.” Philip came and told Andrew, and in turn Andrew and Philip told Jesus.
John 12:20–22

Andrew brings others to Jesus
Not only Jews came to the Passover in Jerusalem, but also people who were not part of the people of Israel. Among them were Greeks. They want to speak to Jesus, so they turn to Philip. But the latter is simply unsure, so he goes and tells Andrew. Together they now go and tell Jesus – beautiful teamwork!

When the two disciples now come to the Lord Jesus with their request, He says to them, “Unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much [fruit].” Yes, even the people outside of Israel are to be saved. This is in accordance with God’s plan of salvation. But this plan of salvation could only come about if Jesus Christ died, otherwise He would have had to remain “alone”; but if He died, life was to be brought to light and much fruit would come forth (v. 24).

Jesus’ death was the only way people could be saved. Yes, He died so that I might live! For the Son of God also “loved me and gave Himself for me”. That is why I say, “Bless the Lord, O my soul, ... who forgives all your iniquities” (Galatians 2:20; Psalm 103:2–3).

Today’s reading: 1 Samuel 25:18-31 · Philippians 3:8-16

HOW PROPHETIC ARE YOUR NAMES?

The name you bear is very important because it serves as your identity and your future may be connected to it. The name a person bears is sometimes indicative of the experiences he or she will encounter in life. Take for instance Moses: this name means "drawn out of water"

Look For Teaching Moments

What do these stones mean?' Joshua 4:21 NIV

One of the most effective ways to teach is through teaching moments'. Jesus did that. When a fig tree didn't produce fruit, He cursed it and it immediately withered up. That got the disciples' attention (see Matthew 21:18-22). Then He explained that unless...More
