They returned, … strengthening the souls of the disciples, exhorting them to continue in the faith, and saying, We must through many tribulations enter the kingdom of God.
Acts 14:22

Spiritual support
Paul and Barnabas preached the gospel of grace in various cities on their missionary journey. As a result, people came to repentance and faith in Jesus Christ. These then possessed forgiveness of sins and were saved for heaven.

On the return journey, the Lord’s servants visited these new converts and tried to help them on their journey of faith:

They strengthened the souls of the disciples. This inner fortification happens through sound instruction in the Word of God. The better we know the redemptive work of the Lord Jesus, the more our assurance of salvation is strengthened. That is why it is important that we regularly read the Bible and listen to the preaching of the Word. Let us accept the teaching of Christians whom the Lord has enabled to explain biblical truth simply!
They exhorted the disciples to continue or persevere in the faith. The faith relationship with the Lord Jesus must be cultivated daily so that we remain close to Him and count on His help. How important personal prayer is! Christians who have been following the Lord for a long time can support us in this by being an example to us in their trust in the Lord.
As disciples of the Lord, we experience tribulations and difficulties on the journey of faith. If we are rooted in the Word of God and maintain a living relationship with the Lord Jesus, we will not be discouraged by such temptations.

Today’s reading: 1 Samuel 28:15-25 · Colossians 1:12-23

God has come to take you out of your current location in the miry clay to your promised land - a land flowing with milk and honey. This simply tells us that the God of Abraham, Isaac...More

TRAIN UP YOUR CHILD 1

One major undoing of modern civilized society is an abounding generation of untrained children. This trend did not just start, but has been on for some time now. The result is that many untrained children of few years back have become parents themselves. It is the multiplier effect of their lack of proper home...More

A LIBERAL HEART?

Read:
, God asked the widow to feed the prophet before taking care of herself. At the end of the day, what was not enough became more than enough. To what extent do you practice giving as an individual, family, church or nation?

Those who never give will continue to beg, if you desire to...More

A DISTINCTIVE FAITH

Hebrews 11:24-28

Author Zora Neale Hurston wrote a book titled Moses, Man of the Mountain. Published in 1939, it retells the story of Moses and the Exodus. Hurston altered details of the story for her own purposes, weaving in allusions to African American history, folklore, and song. She reflected...More
