Questions to God

I cried to the Lord with my voice, and He heard me from His holy hill.
Psalm 3:4

Questions to God
Since time immemorial, people have asked themselves fundamental questions about life, but they have been unable to answer them conclusively. Only God knows the answer. He shares it with us in the Bible. Today we want to explore two such questions:

“If a man dies, shall he live again?” (Job 14:14). This question concerns the hereafter. What does God say about it? In Ecclesiastes 12:7 we read, “Then the dust will return to the earth as it was,and the spirit will return to God who gave it”. While the body decays, the spirit and soul continue to exist. But that is not the whole answer. The Son of God declares, “The hour is coming in which all who are in the graves will hear His voice and come forth” (John 5:28–29). There will be two groups: the believers will be resurrected to life and the unbelievers to judgment.
“How then can man be righteous before God?” (Job 25:4). This question deals with our relationship with God. Can we stand before Him? Are we good enough to be fit for His presence? No! In Romans 3:23 we read, “All have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. A little later, however, it is shown that God justifies and accepts everyone who believes in the Saviour, Jesus Christ. People who have taken this step know: “Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ” (Romans 5:1).

Today’s reading: 2 Samuel 6:1-23 · 1 Thessalonians 2:1-12
