Joy in the Lord

Rejoice in the Lord always!
Philippians 4:4

Joy in the Lord
Today we would like to list some things that give us as Christians cause to rejoice:

In Luke 10:20 the Lord Jesus says, “Rejoice because your names are written in heaven”. Through faith in Him we possess the forgiveness of our sins. What a joy for us to be eternally saved and to have a completely secure place in heaven!
What the Psalmist expresses can also be our experience: “I rejoice at Your word as one who finds great treasure” (Psalm 119:162). When reading the Bible we may discover a statement that, for example, speaks to us personally, encourages us, or introduces us to the Lord Jesus. Isn’t this a great joy?
Paul declares in Philippians 1:18: “What then? Only that in every way, whether in pretence or in truth, Christ is preached; and in this I rejoice, yes, and will rejoice.” To this day the gospel of grace is proclaimed and spread. How we rejoice when Jesus Christ is made known to men as Saviour!
The Apostle Paul exhorts us: “Rejoicing in hope” (Romans 12:12). We wait for the coming of the Lord Jesus at the rapture. Then we will see Him as He is. The thought of our glorious future with Him fills our hearts with deep joy.
Christian joy has its source in the Lord Jesus. He is our Saviour, the primary theme of the Bible, the content of the gospel and our hope.

Today’s reading: 1 Kings 10:1-13 · John 8:12-20

CAN SATAN RIGHTLY ACCUSE YOU?

Besides discouragement, another weapon Satan uses often against believers is their weaknesses. He simply studies an individual for a period of time and not long after, he identifies the fellow's weakness and capitalizes on it. Take for instance Peter. Satan discovered that Peter is a cowardly person-lacking in...More

DON'T KILL YOURSELF FOR NOTHING

Do hope you are learning from our meditations through Psalm 73. It pictures to us the reality of everyday living. I do hope you are realizing that after all there is no point envying the prosperous wicked. Do not kill yourself for nothing. You have your life to live. Do not be a puppet dancing the...More

Hudson Taylor...

John 19:30

The parents of Hudson Taylor (1832-1905), the well-known missionary in China, were believers. From their example, he noticed early in life how helpful prayer and the Bible are.
His parents' exemplary life impressed him, and he endeavoured to be as good a Christian as they were....More
