December 3, 2015 Today's reading: Numbers 33:38-56 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him. 1 John 5:11-12; John 3:36 After a gospel address, a young man went up to the evangelist C.H. Spurgeon and said, "You are right: I must be converted to Jesus Christ. I shall do so, but not at once. I want to have something from life first." Spurgeon's reply was: "Only something? You are very modest, young man. Come to Jesus and you will have life in its fullness, eternal life!" Even if he still hesitated, that young man at least knew that he had to turn to God and confess his sin to Him to receive His forgiveness. Many people resemble him. They imagine that turning to God and faith in Jesus Christ will make their life one that lacks joy and is full of renunciation. What a false impression! With such thought, Satan hinders people from coming to Jesus. Dazed by fleeting pleasures, which all too often leave a bitter aftertaste behind, so many let time slip past in the alternation of adventure and disappointment until it is too late for them. Now is the time to listen to Christ and His word: "What will it profit a man, if he gain the whole world and loses his own soul?"(Mark 8:36). Whoever puts his faith in the Son of God receives eternal life and can enjoy the abundance of that life with God's rich blessing (cf ). |

Vedder Jr To you is given to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; (Mark 4:11) The Lord Jesus told His disciples that they would be given an understanding in "the mystery of the kingdom of God." He also spoke of another class of people to whom everything would be spoken in parables; these He described as, "them who are without." How solemn that God should...More |

Brethren, if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:1-2) The verse above enjoins spiritual ones...More |
