December 8, 2015 Today's reading: 1 John 1 - 2:6 He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy. Proverbs 28:13 "How understanding are offenders when they are convicted?" This was the question a journalist asked a psychologist who was responsible for the medical and psychological examination of drivers whose licence has been taken away for drunken driving. Her answer was: "Many of the convicted do regret their neglect and make good resolutions. But the reason for their wrongdoing are generally purely superficial. They claim that their drunken driving was a single occurrence and one that will not be repeated. They rarely admit the true reason, but find all kinds of excuses: they had been persuaded by others to have a drink, or they were in a bad mood etc.". Everyone tends to suppress the true reason for whatever wrongdoing he has committed. However, with every form of delinquency, we sin against God our Creator, not just against other people. And one day He will demand that we account for it. The Bible makes this clear in many passages. Our holy God knows us thoroughly. We cannot water things down or conceal them from Him. Today's verse gives us this divine warning: whoever conceals wrongdoings will not succeed, either now or at the last judgment before God. There is, however one way of escape. Our verse makes it clear: we have to confess our wrongs before God and also, if need be, before men. Then we shall experience God's mercy and be able, with His help, to lead a new life. |

(Luke 24:26-27) Two discouraged disciples were reasoning among themselves as...More |

This is the fact that there is a God. We cannot be talking of the armour of God if there is no God. Anyone who thinks that there is no God is a fool (Psalm 14:1). You have to pray that God would reveal Himself to you. The...More |
