This woman has had to live with her...

If only I may touch His clothes, I shall be made well.
Mark 5:28

This woman has had to live with her condition for twelve years. She has spent her entire fortune on treatment without getting any better. On the contrary, the disease has only worsened! She has obviously heard a lot about Jesus, and now He is nearby. She firmly believes that He can help her. She must seize the opportunity.

Many people crowd around the Lord Jesus. Therefore, the sick woman cannot speak with Him but she trusts in His power. She is convinced that a touch of His clothing is enough to heal her. So she touches His garment – and is healed! Faith in Christ and in His power is always rewarded.

Jesus looks around and asks who touched Him. The Son of God does not need to ask. But He wants to talk to the woman and give her even more than she has already received from Him. Then she falls down meekly before Him and ‘tells Him the whole truth’. She openly describes to Jesus her desperate situation, in which He has become her only hope. She has experienced the power of Jesus – now she also learns about the love of the Son of God. What heartfelt compassion and what deep love are in Jesus’ words, “Daughter, your faith has made you well. Go in peace, and be healed of your affliction.”

When it comes to healing from the sickness of sin and the distress it causes, the same is true: neither the ‘doctors’ of this world nor we ourselves can help, even if we spend all our strength and all our fortune. Christ is our only hope. He has the power and the love to heal us and give us peace.

Today’s reading: 2 Kings 15:1-22 · 1 John 2:20-29

Given modern trends and need for details, most institutions have various books in which records are kept and can be retrieved in years to come. Every...More
