Thoughts on the Gospel of John (160)

And in that day you will ask Me nothing. Most assuredly, I say to you, whatever you ask the Father in My name He will give you. Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full. These things I have spoken to you in figurative language; but the time is coming when I will no longer speak to you in figurative language, but I will tell you plainly about the Father.
John 16:23–25

Thoughts on the Gospel of John (160)
Jesus had spoken of the joy of the disciples that no one could rob them of. This joy was not only short-lived, it would even mark a whole epoch, called here “that day”. It is in “that day” in which we live.

Until now, the Lord had met all the disciples’ needs as a man on earth, and they could go to Him with all their questions. But now a new situation would arise which would not be a disadvantage for them. The Lord had already told them that. After the coming of the Holy Spirit to dwell in believers, they could have direct access to God the Father. They would be able to pray directly to Him as His sons. They would not now need to ask Jesus Christ to approach the Father on their behalf (cf. ch. 11:22). If they were to ask the Father for something in Jesus’ name, they could receive what they asked for from Him – selfish requests naturally excluded. An immeasurable supply of help would be available to them and the use of it would bring great joy. This blessing is available for us today!

Then the Lord hints at another change. He would no longer communicate from heaven the truth about the Father in allegories, but in all clarity: the Holy Spirit inspired the writers of the New Testament to write about the Father – about His counsel, His glory and His love. How blessed are the children of God!

THE HOLY SPIRIT

It is one thing to receive the anointing and another to keep growing on it. There are people who had the anointing, but today, everything has virtually ebbed out. It is possible to connect with the Holy Spirit and to continue to flow in the power of the anointing even at increasing levels. If this is your desire,...More

LEADERSHIP BY EXAMPLE

Read:
.
The essence of the anointing of God in your life is not for show but for service. Service is a fundamental aspect of leadership. The moment you remove service from your life, there is no room for good leadership. People should see the good example you are showing and praise God for your life....More

You, Lord, in the beginning laid the foundation of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain. You are the same, and your years will not fail.
