A word to children

Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.
Ephesians 6:1

A word to children
God wants to speak to children. He does it through His Word. That is why it is good when children start reading their own Bible at an early age. They can then experience God speaking to them personally. With regard to family life, He has a word that directly concerns them: “Children, obey your parents in all things, for this is well pleasing to the Lord” (Colossians 3:20). A Christian once paraphrased the obedience of children thus: first gladly, secondly immediately, thirdly wholly.

In the Bible we find the example of Joseph who obeyed in this way. He received an order from his father: “Are not your brothers feeding the flock in Shechem? Come, I will send you to them” (Genesis 37:13). Although Joseph knew that his brothers hated him, he went willingly and immediately. When he came to Shechem, he didn’t find his brothers. Now he could have said, “I have done what my father told me to do; now I can go home again.” But he didn’t, because he wanted to carry out his father’s order completely. So he continued to search until he found his brothers in Dothan.

The best example for children is Jesus Christ. He Himself was blameless in everything, but He had imperfect parents. Nevertheless, it is said of Him: “He … was subject to them” (Luke 2:51).

Children, follow the Lord Jesus in this way and God will bless you!

Today’s reading: Ezekiel 13:1-23 · Psalms 119:49-64

THE BREVITY OF TIME

How recklessly this age speeds to self destruction! The word of God is accurate and authentic in its prediction of the latter end of the world and in warning His saints of the end times, so that they are not overtaken by the prevalence of evil in this age! In virtually every facet of life, there is an overturning...More
